Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic has just been named the 2021-22 NBA MVP, and while that's a reason to celebrate for the Serbian, his fans, countrymen, and Nuggets supporters, not everyone is thrilled over the news. At least one who isn't is Sixers center Joel Embiid, according to Mike Singer of the Denver Post.

Was told yesterday that those around the Sixers knew the news was coming. Obviously, Joel wasn't thrilled.

Of course, Embiid believes he is the best player this season, and to see another player win the MVP award was understandably not a fun experience for him. As the no. 1 asset of the Sixers, Embiid has managed to lead his team into at least a second-round appearance in the 2022 NBA Playoffs. He won the 2021-22 NBA season scoring title with 30.6 points per game while shooting 49.9 percent from the field. He really had a strong case to be the MVP, but Jokic ultimately had the better resume in the eyes of the voters.

Embiid is still just 28 with a few more prime years ahead of him, so he should continue figuring in future MVP races. For now, he can take heart from the fact that the Sixers are still dancing in the playoffs, unlike the Denver Nuggets who got wiped out in five games by the Golden State Warriors in the first round.
