Denver Nuggets' superstar Nikola Jokic has been voted as the 2021-2022 NBA MVP. With the award, Jokic becomes just the 13th player in NBA history to win the award in back-to-back seasons. Jokic finished the year with extremely impressive per game averages of 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists.

Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo were contenders in the MVP race as well. There were some who believed that Embiid had a realistic shot at dethroning Jokic as MVP this season. But the Denver big man ended up earning the necessary amount of votes and winning the award for a second consecutive year.

Nikola Jokic carried the Nuggets all season long despite injuries to stars such as Jamaal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. His ability to dish out assists from the big man position and get teammates involved is unparalleled across the league and the only center who comes close to matching his ability in that sense is Embiid. But more than passing, Jokic is a versatile scorer who can finish at the rim or pull up and hit a jumper.

Jokic's 58.3 field goal percentage was the highest of his career. His efficiency was vital to the team's success. However, arguably the most impressive thing Jokic accomplished during the 2021-2022 NBA season was keeping Denver out of the play-in tournament. Despite the Nuggets' injuries, Jokic's MVP-caliber performance led Denver to the 6-seed which guaranteed them a postseason spot.

It has been a long time since we have seen a center dominate the league the way Nikola Jokic has. In a league full of star backcourt players, Jokic is redefining the center position.
