The Philadelphia 76ers are “very interested” in acquiring Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans, according to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The Pelicans are reportedly listening to Holiday trade offers. The All-NBA guard began his pro career with the Sixers.

The Sixers need a third dynamic scorer on the team next to All-Stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid and Jrue Holiday certainly fits that bill.

For the Pelicans in 2019-20, Holiday averaged 19.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. He shot 45.5 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 70.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Holiday played the first four years of his career with the Sixers. He put up 13.4 points, 3.6 boards and 5.8 assists and made the All-Star team in 2013.

Philadelphia got swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World. Brett Brown was fired as head coach after the team returned from Orlando, Florida. Former Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers was hired as Brown's replacement after he and the Clips parted ways.

The Sixers also made a big splash in the front office by hiring former Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, one of the most aggressive execs in NBA history. Look for Morey to make a lot of moves with Philadelphia since he's eager to win a championship in the City of Brotherly Love.
