The Philadelphia 76ers have a talented trio of Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler and Ben Simmons in their starting lineup, but other than that, they don't have all that much.
The Sixers are pretty bereft of any sort of depth, which will pose a big problem when going up against deep teams like the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors in the playoffs.
However, Philadelphia is entirely aware of its shortcomings and is planning to do what it can to address them.
According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Sixers—who have an open roster spot—are interested in adding a perimeter defender, whether that be via trade or the buyout market.

The Sixers have also been rumored to be interested in adding a big man, as they have very little behind Embiid up front.
Just what can Philly add via trade? Probably not much, as the Sixers do not exactly have a whole lot to trade. Markelle Fultz was their best trade chip once upon a time, but his continued shoulder issues will likely scare away potential suitors.
The Sixers may have to rely on the buyout market to add someone, which is not necessarily the worst thing in the world, as decent players often end up on the scrap heap.
Either way, the Sixers need to do something, as it is obvious that they are outgunned by the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
