The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly have interest in signing veteran point guard Austin Rivers, who was just released by the Phoenix Suns, according to Brandon Robinson of Heavy.

The Memphis Grizzlies were reportedly going to sign Austin Rivers, but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

In 29 games with the Washington Wizards this season, Austin Rivers averaged 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 39.2 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from beyond the arc and 54.3 percent from the free-throw line. The Wizards traded Rivers and small forward Kelly Oubre Jr. to the Suns in exchange for Trevor Ariza, and then Phoenix waived the former Duke Blue Devil.

With second year guard Markelle Fultz's future with the Sixers up in the air, Philly could use a combo guard like Austin Rivers, who can score in bunches and create for others. Ben Simmons and T. J. McConnell are the primary ball-handlers for the Sixers at the moment. Rivers is a good shooter from deep and has postseason experience as well.

Austin Rivers gave back $650,000 as part of his buyout agreement with the Suns. He is on a $12.6 million expiring contract this season and will become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. It will be interesting to see where he lands.
