If Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer decides to leave for the Phoenix Suns or another head coaching job, that team will probably have to pay up some type of compensation.
According to ESPN, the Hawks granted Budenholzer permission to meet with the Suns for their head coaching position. Budenholzer is from Arizona so it's not really a surprise that he would want to leave to take the Suns job. The Suns roster is also more appealing and is probably closer to making the playoffs.
For the Suns though, if they decide to go with Budenholzer, chances are they are going to have to probably give up a draft pick. He is still under contract for two more years with the Hawks and they probably won't just give him up for nothing.

In 2013 when Doc Rivers went from the Boston Celtics to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Clippers gave up a first-round pick to get the deal done.
The Celtics got an unprotected pick in the 2015 draft and it turned out being the 28th pick. For the Suns and their struggles, they are going to have a much higher pick to offer but it might be in their best interest to try and give up a pick in a few years if they think they are going to be better down the road.
If the Hawks are going to continue to rebuild and not be aggressive in free agency, it might be in their best interest to try to get rid of Budenholzer to a different team for a draft pick and then hire a coach that is a little cheaper and save the organization a few bucks.
