The Phoenix Suns are not going to see much of Devin Booker over the next several weeks after the shooting guard sustained a hand injury that forced him to go under the knife on Monday. With Booker expected to miss the entire preseason and likely some games early in the 2018-19 NBA regular season, his conditioning will be a big question mark once he makes his return to action.

For now, though, Booker does not seem worried about it all, as he even found time to post a photo of himself with a heavily-bandaged right hand on Instagram following his surgery to thank his supporters and joke that he’s probably going to have to learn shooting with his left hand.

The Suns have five games scheduled in the preseason, which Booker, as mentioned earlier, will miss. That said, his role on the team will remain unchanged, as he’s expected to be the Suns’ primary option on offense again the moment he comes back.

Injuries are never a good thing, but the Suns could still be considered lucky that Booker is not expected to miss a bunch of games in the regular season. According to his current timetable, he’s going to sit out six weeks, meaning he’s only bound to be absent for the first two or three games of the next campaign.

Booker, who signed a five-year, $158 million extension with the Suns last July, averaged 24.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game last season.
