The bond between ex-Portland Trail Blazers teammates Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum runs deep. This pair spent many years together terrorizing the league as one of the most prolific scoring backcourts in all of the NBA. Their memorable run as teammates, however, came to an end a few weeks ago after the Blazers traded McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans.

On Monday, Lillard appeared to have been in a bit of a sentimental mood. As such, he decided to temporarily change his profile picture to an animated photo of himself with his arm around McCollum (h/t Hoop Central on Twitter):

Talk about a heartbreaking image for Blazers fans everywhere, right? McCollum was a faithful servant for the franchise for many years, but as they always say, all good things must come to an end.

For the Blazers, this came in the form of McCollum being sent to New Orleans along with Larry Nance Jr., and Tony Snell in exchange for Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Tomas Satoranzsky, and a 2022 first-round pick.

Unsurprisingly, Lillard's social media activity quickly had rumors swirling about Dame potentially following his ex-teammate to the Pelicans. This is highly improbable, to say the least, and his decision to change his profile picture just seems to be his way of honoring his former backcourt partner.
