The Portland Trail Blazers could be without superstar point guard Damian Lillard for Thursday's matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. According to a report, the five-time All-Star is currently dealing with an abdominal strain and is currently in danger of missing his first game of the season.
This report comes via NBA insider Casey Holdahl:
Injury report for Thursday's game vs. 76ers: Damian Lillard (abdominal strain) and Derrick Jones Jr. (left foot sprain) are questionable while Nassir Little (left knee), CJ McCollum (left midfoot fracture), C Jusuf Nurkic (right wrist) and Zach Collins (left ankle) are out.

Lillard, who recently came out with some controversial comments about “fake analysts,” is as durable as they come, and he's the type who plays through injuries whenever possible. As such, it would take a considerable injury for him to have to sit out a marquee matchup against the mighty Sixers, who themselves currently sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 15-6 record.
Article Continues BelowIt is worth noting, however, that Lillard himself earlier admitted that he has been dealing with the abdominal issue for a few games now and that it has become a real concern of late:
Lillard said it's an "abdominal issue" that often flares up in training camp and that massage, cold tub and "activation stuff that I do" usually does the trick. https://t.co/yI5kgrEgyg

The fact that Lillard could “barely move” prior to Portland's win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday is not a good sign. While he was able to play through it (he finished with 32 points and eight assists against the Wizards), he was clearly in some considerable pain prior to tip-off. Unfortunately, he has yet to fully recover from injury and it is now very much possible that he will be forced to sit out Thursday against Philly.
As the first tweet above indicated, the Blazers squad is currently decimated with injuries. Needless to say, Portland will be a tad shorthanded when they face off against Joel Embiid and the Sixers on Thursday — regardless if Lillard is able to suit up or not.
