DeMarcus Cousins could be wearing a different jersey after the All-Star break.
According to a report by ESPN's Tim MacMahon, the Sacramento Kings center is “extremely unlikely” to re-sign with the team once he becomes a free-agent and the Kings could maximize his trade value by giving his destination team a full year of his contract to test out Cousins' fit in their system.
The mercurial big man, although beloved in Sacramento because of his heart and tenacity, has spent his six-year career in back-and-forth frustration with the organization — whether it is coaching, front office, or the team put around him.
This constant unhappiness has his team. among others, quite concerned about a potential future of the franchise with someone so volatile.
The Kentucky product is bound to have plenty of suitors around the league, especially with the numbers he's put up the last two seasons — but the Kings will definitely take a hit in return, as other teams are aware of the pressure that front office has to find a potential deal.
The 6-foot-11 Alabama native has averaged 26 points and 8.6 rebounds through 10 games this season.
