LaMarcus Aldridge has been known as a versatile big man from the day he was drafted back in 2006. His superior footwork, balance and soft touch around the rim make him a nightmare in the post while his excellent range at the four-spot gives defenders even more complications when attempting to guard him.

The 6-foot-11 forward/center was a surprising 0-for-16 in three-point attempts in his first year as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. He had a career-high the previous year with the Portland Trail Blazers, making 37 of 105 three-point attempts for a respectable 35.2-percent shooting.

“Pop, after last season, told me to get back with it, so I’ll start taking that shot more this year,” Aldridge told Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

San Antonio had plenty of three-point shooters around Aldridge last year, so he mainly concentrated on getting his attempts in the paint and the mid-range game.

The addition of Pau Gasol basically gives the Spurs a starting lineup that can stretch the floor entirely, as every man from one-to-five is able to shoot the three at a respectable rate.

While the bulk of three-point attempts will go to Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard, there's no reason to think LaMarcus Aldridge couldn't attempt 150 threes during the season to help open up his game beyond-the-arc.
