It was a tale of two halves for San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray after his team fell to the visiting Sacramento Kings on Monday.

Murray had a red-hot start to the game and erupted for 21 points in the opening half, with his team down by just eight points at the break. To the Spurs' demise, Murray's touches became scarce in the second half as they ultimately fell to the surging Kings squad.

After the game, Murray simply shrugged off his awful second-half performance. As he relayed to Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News, though his first-half numbers called for him to have more opportunities in the third and fourth quarter, it didn't matter if he dropped a career-high or had zero points. Per the 24-year-old, all he wanted was the W for the Spurs.

The Seattle native was rolling in the first two quarters, shooting 10-of-14 before the half. Unfortunately, his usage rate plummeted in the second half as he was only limited to a 1-of-4 shooting for just two points. Dejounte Murray did still end up leading the team with 23 points, eight boards, and seven dimes–albeit on a losing effort as the Spurs couldn't catch up with the fast-paced Kings all night long.

Despite the loss, the Spurs continue to hang on to their play-in spot. Their 23-21 record puts them at the eighth spot in the West. Murray also continues to put up stellar numbers as San Antonio's main backcourt weapon with career-high numbers across the board in his fifth season in Texas.
