Ever since LaMarcus Aldridge left the Portland Trailblazers to join the San Antonio Spurs, his career has never been the same. Undoubtedly, Aldridge is an excellent NBA player. He was the franchise superstar for the Trailblazers in the early part of his career even when had Brandon Roy on its roster. In 2014, the Blazers defeated the Houston Rockets with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Damian Lillard to win their first playoff series in more than 10 years. Everything was looking up for the Trailblazers and Aldridge who was playing the best basketball of his career. However, things changed and Aldridge moved on.
After he joined the Spurs, there was a bit of tweaking that had to happen for Aldridge to become acclimated and fully involved in Gregg Popovich's system. Initially, Aldridge didn't like it and requested a trade. However, he soon grew fond of the Spurs and Popovich and has embraced the San Antonio culture ever since. Now, after somewhat being shifted into obscurity due to the league's fascination with LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and other stars, Aldridge has stated that he feels misunderstood, per Tom Orsburn of the San Antonio Express-News.

“Misunderstood,” LaMarcus Aldridge said, “because I don’t think people really understand me.” Fortunately for Aldridge, his current employer no longer falls into that category. “People who don’t understand my personality don’t know how to handle me,” the 12th-year power forward said. “The Spurs have kind of learned who I am as a person and have let me be me. They had Tim (Duncan), who was an introvert, kind of a private person, so now they understand me better.”
It is fortunate that LaMarcus Aldridge is still fond of the Spurs and that he has accepted being himself. Hopefully, more people can understand what Aldridge is all about.
