San Antonio Spurs guard Lonnie Walker IV is offering a hand to help groom and mentor the team's 2019 first-round draft pick Keldon Johnson.
“He's a great kid. I am trying to speak to him and help him out as much as I can. We are a family,” Walker told Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Expresss-News.
The Spurs, including Walker and Johnson, are in Salt Lake City for the NBA's Summer League. There will be quite a lot of focus on Walker's game due to his lack of appearances during his rookie year.
Walker only played in 17 games during the 2018-19 NBA season as he recovers from a meniscus tear.

The Spurs selected University of Kentucky wing Keldon Johnson with the 29th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He spent his single collegiate basketball season in the SEC under head coach John Calipari.
The Spurs hope Johnson can develop into a perennial perimeter threat and stretch defenses out while guards like Walker or All-Star DeMar DeRozan pick opponents apart and use their athleticism to create shots for themselves or teammates.
Johnson, 19, was the 2018-19 SEC Rookie of the Year and was selected to the All-SEC second team.
While neither Walker nor Johnson can legally drink alcohol in the United States yet, Walker seems dedicated to helping the latter adjust to the professional league and learn what it means to be a Spur.
