An earlier anecdote from ESPN's Michael C. Wright set the internet ablaze last night, saying that Kawhi Leonard's camp went to such lengths to keep him away from the San Antonio Spurs, that they were willing to put him in a different room once the representatives asked to see him.

According to Fox Sports 1's Chris Broussard, a person close to Leonard refuted this, calling the story “BS” with no further explanation.

Leonard's camp has acted somewhat secretive throughout the season, as he went largely unnoticed by the media throughout his absence.

The Spurs organization has had a large disconnect with Leonard and his camp, not only disagreeing on his quad injury diagnosis but also holding a grudge for seeking to get a second opinion after he was initially diagnosed by team doctors.

Leonard played in only nine games, looking like a shadow of himself with his injury clearly bothering him, whether it was physically or mentally.

The earlier report raised the concern of the real intentions his camp had, as the Spurs had suspected his “group” had ulterior motives, hoping to provoke an exit to a big market destination like Los Angeles or New York, among other possibilities.

Leonard has been reportedly committed to wind up with the Los Angeles Lakers one way or another, but it could prove troublesome, as the latter hasn't had the assets to satisfy the Spurs brass into finishing the deal.

The 27-year-old averaged 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in only nine games during the 2017-18 season.
