Newly-acquired sharpshooting swingman Danny Green is off to a great start with the Toronto Raptors this offseason.
Just a few weeks before the official start of training camp, the new Raptor has already been learning the ropes with his new teammates. The Raptors' young guns, together with Green, are already working out and refining their game in Los Angeles. On top of that, they are also having the privilege to learn from one of the best passing maestros in two-time MVP Steve Nash.
In Green's Inside the Green Room podcast, he talked about the Raptors' early preparations for the upcoming season. Sportsnet's Michael Hoad wrote about it.
Article Continues BelowâSteve Nash came to dinner, he also talked to young guys, they got to ask him questions. Steveâs great with young guys, telling them about his routine.â
âFans love guys like Steve, Steph Curry, VanVleet because theyâre more relatable to your average guy. Theyâre not big, tall guys, theyâre just the ultimate competitors. Theyâre very high-IQ guys, they use their advantage in that way. Theyâre very skilled and they work on their skill. Itâs not like you have to be super athletic or super fast, strong. Those guys just worked really hard and studied the game and they did all those things the right way.â
Green also mentioned the likes of OG Anunoby, Fred VanVleet, Delon Wright, Norman Powell, Lorenzo Brown, and Malachi Richardson as the young guys who were among those who attended the workouts in Los Angeles.
With a new coach in Nick Nurse at the helm, the Raptors will be getting their feet wet in integrating former San Antonio Spurs teammates Kawhi Leonard and Green to the fold. Losing long-time go-to-guy Demar DeRozan in the deal with the Spurs will absolutely derail their progress, but Leonard and Green are no slouch, either.
This upcoming season, the Raptors are seen by many as one of the top contenders in the East, just trailing the stacked Boston Celtics and the young Philadelphia 76ers.
