After an emotionally charged speech from former Toronto Raptors guard Jeremy Lin, there has been an outpouring of support for the free-agent guard. Among those who had only positives to say about Lin was former teammate and backcourt partner Fred VanVleet. TMZ Sports caught up with VanVleet as he was leaving a restaurant and asked him what he thought about Lin's future:
“He was great, man,” Fred told us on his way out of Catch restaurant in L.A. “He's gonna be alright. He's gonna land on his feet. He's gonna be alright. He's got enough talent.”
The Raptors signed Lin in mid-February after he was bought out by the Atlanta Hawks. He took a minor role in Toronto, averaging 7.0 points and 2.2 assists in 18.8 minutes per game.
Lin never really got a chance to play when the rotations shortened in the postseason. Even with VanVleet struggling to start the postseason, Lin only received 27 minutes of playing time throughout the playoffs.
Lin is still a solid player who can provide some quality minutes off the bench for a team. Hopefully, some team is willing to take a flyer on Lin and give him a chance to redeem himself and avoid ending his career on a sour note.
