Toronto Raptors guard Jeremy Lin wants fans to stop poking fun at Carmelo Anthony.

After the Raptors won their first-ever NBA championship, fans started to post memes showing Anthony and Lin. In those memes, the main theme is that Lin managed to win an NBA championship before Anthony. In his Instagram story, Lin asked fans to stop throwing shades at Anthony.

It can be remembered that there was allegedly a tension between Lin and Anthony when they were still with the New York Knicks. Lin rose to stardom in 2012 because of a long stretch of excellent performance, which started the “Linsanity” fever. Previous reports indicated that Anthony was jealous of the attention Lin got during that period.

Lin said that all that happened before a “irrelevant now” and that fans should celebrate without poking fun at another player. The 30-year-old guard did not hide his joy after winning the first NBA title of his career despite seeing limited minutes for the Raptors in the playoffs.

Anthony, on the other hand, had a rough year this season. The superstar forward signed with the Houston Rockets in the hopes of winning his first NBA championship. However, his stint with the Rockets turned out to be short one after he and Houston mutually parted ways after only 10 games. He failed to find a new home after leaving Houston.
