Toronto Raptors fans are eager to finally watch Kawhi Leonard take the court in their building. The mercurial superstar has yet to play in Scotiabank Arena as a member of the Raptors. Unfortunately, fans must wait for the Raptors' season opener against Cleveland on Oct. 17.
Kawhi will not be making his home debut tonight after all. The Raptors are resting Leonard, Lowry and Miles vs Melbourne this evening. VanVleet is also out with a stiff left hamstring.

Nick Nurse and the Toronto coaching staff are deciding to rest Leonard, Kyle Lowry, and C.J. Miles. The Raptors are playing the Australian team, Melbourne United. Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports goes on to speculate that the Raptors will have most of their guys play extended minutes in their penultimate preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets.
There's no need to push guys too far in the preseason, but there is a need for teams to work on chemistry — no teams more than the Toronto Raptors. Leonard is acclimating to a new team and a new environment. More time on the court is beneficial for the cohesiveness, but that shouldn't come at the expense of the team's long-term health.
They have enough talent to figure it out and even if they get off to a slow start, the Eastern Conference is incredibly weak. The Raptors won't be in danger of missing the playoffs, even if the team isn't firing on all cylinders to start the season.
But once they do start clicking, this will be an incredibly fun team to watch. They have one of the deepest benches in basketball and Kawhi Leonard is a top player in the league when healthy.
