San Antonio Spurs superstar DeMar DeRozan is about to face his former team on Thursday at the AT&T Center.

DeRozan publicly revealed his dismay over the trade that sent him to San Antonio in exchange for Kawhi Leonard. When asked if he has talked to Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri since the trade happened, DeRozan insisted that there is no reason for him to talk to the veteran executive:

“I have no reason to talk to him. At all,” DeRozan said, per Jabari Young of The Athletic.

It can be remembered that DeRozan felt betrayed when he was included in the deal that sent Leonard and Danny Green to Toronto. He posted several messages on his Instagram, hinting that he was initially given an assurance that he would not be traded.

DeRozan is known as one of the most loyal players in the league, and he was hoping to stay in Toronto and break records. The 29-year-old felt that the Raptors did not value his loyalty to the organization. He admitted that he was caught off guard, but he is also looking at the positive side of the things that transpired last summer:

“It just kind of opened my mind up to no matter who you are in this business, and in life as well, you have to be prepared for anything,” DeRozan said via the Toronto Star. “It gave me not just this lesson on the court but a life lesson as well.”

DeRozan appears to be comfortable in his current situation in San Antonio. The former USC standout leads the team in scoring with 22.9 points per game. The four-time All-Star is also San Antonio's top passer, tallying 6.3 assists per contest in San Antonio.
