DeRozan made it look easy against a stifling Raptors defense.

You can tell that he's familiar with the Raptors' defensive schemes and tendencies. They might be playing under a new coach, Nick Nurse. However, the team is still the same and DeRozan took advantage of this fact.

When DeRozan was traded to the Spurs in the offseason, everyone saw how four-time All-Star vented out his anger via social media even discussed how he felt betrayed by the Raptors front office.

Now, he's in a good place. Prior to the game, he shared his realizations on the trade which basically changed his life. Per Doug Smith of the Toronto Star:

“It just kind of opened my mind up to no matter who you are in this business, and in life as well, you have to be prepared for anything,” DeRozan said. “It gave me not just this lesson on the court but a life lesson as well.”

Indeed, DeRozan has turned a negative experience into a life lesson. It's this type of maturity that separates great players from the average ones.
