One thing that's inevitable in NBA basketball is injuries. This season alone has already claimed a number of players with gruesome injuries that has caused them some degree of set back, and the season is only a quarter of the way in.

Monday night brought a fantastic and weird matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the home team New Orleans Pelicans. The game had it all, hustle, trash talk, ejections and an exciting second half as the Pelicans led the game through the first half with a 69-49 lead.

Once the third quarter began, it was all Warriors as the team mounted a furious comeback, outscoring the Pelicans 39-22 and living up to the reputation they've gained this season by outscoring opponents by 20+ points in the third period.

The Warriors eventually took the lead for good in the fourth quarter but not before losing star Stephen Curry to an ankle injury.

While Curry walked to the locker room on his own, he was seen leaving the arena in a walking boot and crutches. According to Yahoo's Shams Charania, X-Rays were negative and the team has scheduled an MRI to follow up.

Before leaving for the night the three-point assassin spoke with reporters, sounding optimistic that he'd return, but not too soon due to swelling.

That's not great news, but it is good news for Warriors fans as Curry has dealt with his fair share of ankle troubles in the past, but this doesn't appear to be more than a Grade 3 high ankle sprain so far. What that means is the former MVP will likely be out for a short time, his season is far from over.
