Even though the Golden State Warriors (26-7) will not have the services of superstar point guard Steph Curry for their Christmas Day game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the two-time NBA champion is very close to returning from his badly sprained ankle.

According to a tweet this morning from Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that Curry is extremely eager to finally get back on the court as soon as possible.

“Hopefully he’ll be back soon,” coach Kerr said. “I know he’s dying to be back, but he’s handled everything really great.”

Curry will miss his ninth straight game this afternoon from the injury he suffered late in the fourth quarter against the New Orleans Pelicans earlier this month. Before Saturday night's 96-81 loss at Oracle Arena to the Denver Nuggets, the Warriors had won their previous 11 games, including seven in a row with Curry out of the lineup.

In a video posted on Twitter this morning by Warriors writer Mark Medina of The Mercury News, Curry was seen doing warmups with the rest of his teammates.

Curry, who is tied with superstar forward Kevin Durant as the Warriors' leading scorer at 26.3 points per game this season, is also averaging a team-high 6.6 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game in roughly 32.6 minutes of action per contest.
