For Christmas Day games, it allows players and coaches to perform on the national stage, and compete knowing that millions of fans all over the world are watching them live. The moments they’ll have during that time could leave a lasting memory on them, which they can recall even after years have gone by.
That is the case for Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, as he appeared in a number of games on December 25 during his playing days. However, he is also reminded of a “bone-headed” play he made before each time Christmas games are played, which he shared via Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Kerr: "I made the biggest bone-head play of my career on Christmas Day. … I threw the ball to the wrong guy. … People remind of that every Christmas, which is really nice."

While the memory he’s reminded of happened when he was still a player, he has had better ones now that he is a head coach. That held true on Monday as his team won against the Cleveland Cavaliers, in their first matchup since last June’s Finals series. The 99-92 victory is more than just an ordinary win for them, as it also sends a strong message to the Cavs that they continue to be the team the beat, and are more than ready to defend their title.
The win on the night could help erase the bad memory Kerr has on Christmas Day games. If they’ll be able to continue winning during the holiday in the next few years, it will give him more reason to look forward to matchups to it, and not think of his “bone-headed” as a nightmare anymore.
