Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook has dealt with injuries throughout his career, and has played in just 17 of the Wizards 24 games so far this season. Westbrook has not yet played in both halves of back-to-back games this season for Washington.
But according to The Athletic’s Fred Katz, the 32-year-old point guard is not listed on the Wizards’ injury report ahead of their game against the Houston Rockets. This means that Westbrook could play for Washington on Monday and play both games of a back-to-back for the first time, which is an encouraging sign for his health this season.
Russell Westbrook is not listed on the Wizards’ injury report for tonight’s game against the Rockets.
If he plays, this will be the first time he plays in both halves of a back-to-back this season.

There was some uncertainty on whether the nine-time NBA All-Star can play against the Rockets after logging 29 minutes in the Wizards’ 104-91 win over the Boston Celtics on Sunday. Westbrook finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists in Washington’s seventh win of the season, which they hope they can continue as they look to climb in the Eastern Conference standings.
Of course, the 2017 MVP could have added motivation for playing on consecutive nights for the first time this year, as he will play against his former team for the second time this season. The game will mark Rockets point guard John Wall’s first on-court return in Washington since the trade that sent him to Houston in exchange for Westbrook.
In the teams’ previous meeting on January 26, the Rockets dominated the Wizards, 107-88, in Westbrook’s first return to Houston since the blockbuster deal. With his team coming off a big win over Boston, he’ll play on consecutive nights hoping for a different result in the rematch on Monday.
