The Washington Wizards have officially made the NBA playoffs. While the final month and a half before the postseason had the squad trending towards that direction, that end result looked impossible at the beginning of April.
But unsurprisingly, it was Russell Westbrook who rallied the team, even making the guarantee that the Wizards were making the playoffs no matter what.
Scott Brooks said Russell Westbrook gave a speech to the team a couple of months ago ad declared that he was not missing the playoffs.
He was correct.

Westbrook wasn't proving any mere lip service either. The Wizards guard went on a tear, ripping off ridiculous stat lines night in, and night out. His efforts for the month of April even netted him the Eastern Conference Player of the Month award. When Bradley Beal went down with a hamstring injury in May, he made sure to step up his game even further.

As late as April 5, the Wizards were 17-32 and in the midst of four-game losing streak. They had lost seven of their last nine games, and going even further, 12 of their last 15 contests. But with Westbrook going bonkers on the triple-doubles, the team rallied to finish the season with 17 wins in their final 23 games.
