It appears that arguably the most dangerous team right now in college basketball isn't even ranked. We are talking about Ron Harper Jr. and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who are making a Cinderella run of sorts — in the regular season. After taking down Kofi Cockburn and the No. 12 Illinois Fighting Illini Wednesday night at home to the tune of a 70-59 score, the Scarlet Knights have become the first non-top-25 team ever to defeat four ranked reams in succession, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Rutgers is the first unranked team all-time to play 4 straight regular season games vs AP-ranked opponents & win them all. It's their 5th win over an AP-ranked opponent this season, the most in a season in school history.

Prior to beating the Fighting Illini, Rutgers won three in a row against the No. 13 Michigan State Spartans, No. 16 Ohio State Buckeyes, and No. 14 Wisconsin Badgers in Big Ten play. Most surely didn't think that Rutgers would survive such a torturous stretch, but the Scarlet Knights succeeded anyway. They should definitely enter the top 25 the next time it gets updated.

Rutgers can make it five in a row against ranked teams when it takes on the No. 5 Purdue Boilermakers on Sunday. For what it's worth, the Scarlet Knights upset the then-No. 1 Boilermakers last December at home.
