How do you feel? I hope well, but that is only because you're going to feel sick for the rest of your day after this.
Former NFL executive, and current ESPN talker, Bill Polian was on the radio. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong.
Polian, often praised for being a football genius, believes Louisville Cardinals quarterback, and all-around dynamite talent, Lamar Jackson isn't all that close to being an NFL gunslinger. In fact, he thinks he — wait for it — is more likely to be a receiver.
And. We. Are. All. Dead.
This all happened on ESPN LA this week with Keyshawn Johnson, Jorge Sedano, and LZ Granderson.
“I don’t think that Lamar, the Louisville kid’s in that discussion, in fact there’s a question that he may be, he might be a receiver.” Polian said, as transcribed by The Big Deal.
[loud yelling from the hosts, including “are you kidding me?”]
“No, I’m not kidding you. And that has to do with girth and skill set as well.”
Lamar Jackson, for those somehow unaware, is last season's Heisman Trophy winner. This season, through magic, he has been even better. Yes. Yes. People have been unsure how to slot him as an NFL prospect — thought, Mel Kiper now has him in the first round of his big board — but this is some serious reaching by Bill Polian.
Article Continues BelowIt gets worse, as there's a tone coming with this that many people who follow the sport my recognize.
“You hurting me, Bill,” Keyshawn Johnson then added, “because I think he’s a NFL quarterback.”
“I’m not saying he isn’t, I just don’t think he’s in the class of the other three,” Polian said in response.
He also said, despite Drew Brees being physically smaller than Lamar Jackson, that comparing the two's frames isn't a good idea. You know, even though he brought up the issue of Jackson's frame.
Bill Polian: big fan of girth and not so much actual talent, apparently.
Louisville faces Clemson this weekend. Fully expect more nonsense to follow.
