Former Brooklyn Nets star James Harden infamously said it was going to be “scary hours” for the rest of the NBA when he, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving became a fully functioning Big Three. Instead, that trio only played 16 games together between last season and this season before Harden was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers right ahead of last Thursday's trade deadline.

That blockbuster deal brought Ben Simmons to Brooklyn, and the new Nets star channeled his inner Harden when talking about this new Big Three:

Let's just hope the Nets' new star trio gets to play together more than the last one. Of course, it's going to be a bit before we see all these guys together, and there's still the matter of Kyrie Irving's vaccination status making him a part-time player.

Simmons said there's no exact timetable for when he'll be ready to suit up. He has been staying in shape but is still working himself back mentally so he can play in the NBA again. With the All-Star break coming up, the hope has to be he'll be ready soon after.

Durant is still recovering from a knee injury. The Nets superstar is making progress and should also hopefully be back not too long after the All-Star break, but, like Simmons, there's no firm timetable.

When these three stars do all join forces on the court, they should certainly be “scary.” KD and Irving will handle the scoring load, while Simmons can be a distributor and defensive ace while also taking advantage of opportunities when defenses focus on the other two stars. Getting Seth Curry in the trade was also a nice move to improve the shooting on the roster.

We'll see how this goes after the Nets' last superteam debacle.
