Brooklyn Nets teammates James Harden and Blake Griffin had the home crowd roaring after their alley-oop connection against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

Bruce Brown knocked the ball away from Tyler Herro near midcourt, leading to a loose-ball play which the Nets ended up winning. Brown tossed the leather to Harden, who then lobbed it to a soaring Griffin who punched it home with a foul to boot.

The play was so electric, it brought almost everyone inside the arena to their feet. That didn't exclude co-owner Clara Tsai from the excitement as she almost spilled the drink of his business partner, Jay-Z, who was sitting beside her at courtside.

For the record, Jay-Z never uttered “Hit me.” to Clara as an homage to former Nets coach Jason Kidd. It was purely accidental, borne out of a great play and not due to a lack of timeouts. Then again, Steve Nash may very well take cues from his former on-court rival as reminded by this Jay-Z incident.

The Nets' offseason was marred by the Kyrie Irving controversy, so seeing some fun and light moments at this early stage is always welcome for Brooklyn fanatics.

So far, the Harden of old has been sorely missed by the Nets. Sans Irving, many expected the 2018 Most Valuable Player to come out of the gate in blazing form. However, the results have been different. Some say the rule change with regards to foul baiting may have affected the Nets superstar. Still, it's only a matter of time before Harden comes out of his shell.
