Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin made an appearance last Friday inside the Barclays Center, as he talked to a youth group. It was the first time he was seen by the public since he suffered a season-ending knee injury way too early in the year.

The 29-year-old Harvard product shared some good news about his recovery progress, saying that he can now bend his knee and walk normally. He even showed off how he stands on his own after sitting on the couch, which is proof that he is on schedule, only a month after rupturing his patellar tendon.

“I’m getting well and can bend my knee now and I can walk normally. The recovery is very good. I wear the knee brace every day.” Lin said, getting up off his couch to demonstrate. “So going anywhere, either eating out or working out is very easy now.”

When asked when he will be back with his teammates on the Nets bench, Lin said he is not ready for that just yet, as he fears his knee might get inadvertently hit during games.

Jeremy Lin will go through an extensive rehabilitation program once his knee brace is removed. It will be a long process, but he remains optimistic about his chances to play again come next year. His return will only make the Nets better, as they look to make a postseason appearance in the future, with the veteran combo guard being an integral part of their plans.
