Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant is making moves, but not of the basketball kind.

KD and his business partner Rich Kleiman, who own 35 Ventures together, have invested in NWSL club Gotham FC. Following the announcement, Durant was ecstatic:

This isn't the Nets forward's first venture into soccer, either. He and Kleiman already own a stake in the Philadelphia Union and have previously invested in women's sports with media network Just Women's Sports and Athletes Limited. USWNT legend Carli Lloyd also recently became an investor in Gotham FC.

This is what Kleiman had to say about the decision:

“As a New York-based company, the opportunity for us to partner with a forward-thinking team like Gotham FC was a no-brainer,” said Rich Kleiman, 35V co-founder with Nets vet Kevin Durant. “There’s been so much growth in the NWSL in recent years, and the chance to be a part of that growth and work directly with the Gotham FC executive team and players is really exciting.”

Gotham FC was founded in 2006 and initially called Jersey Sky Blue, one of the first clubs in the NWSL. The club changed officially changed its name in 2020. They currently play their home games at Red Bull Park in Harrison, New Jersey.
