As expected, Kevin Durant had a strong performance in his first game back after a month and a half on the sidelines. KD dropped a game-high 31 points on Wednesday, but in spite of his heroics, the Brooklyn Nets were unable to hold off a shorthanded Miami Heat side.

Wednesday's 113-107 loss was the Nets' third straight loss and not even KD could put a stop to Brooklyn's downward spiral. At this point, it's quite understandable that Nets fans are getting a little bit worried about their team. For his part, however, Durant is adamant that it's only going to get better from here on out.

KD had a special message for Brooklyn supporters before Wednesday's contest. Durant acknowledged how the past couple of months has been a tough stretch for the Nets but at the same time, KD opted to focus on the silver lining:

“I just expect us to officially get out team together, get everybody healthy and find their rhythm,” Durant said. “Let it just fall where it may. Like I said we went through a tough stretch. [Myself] being out a month and a half, not being ble to play. Our team seen some changes. This is a situation where it's only going to build our character and the organization only going to make us better as individual players and as a team.”

Durant is now asking the fans for some patience. He understands that his team has not been able to reach the lofty expectations the supporters had on them before the season started. However, KD is also adamant that at this point, there's nowhere to go but up:

“I know a lot of fans that are watching us had high expectations for us coming into the season and expected us to run away with the championship,” Durant said, ” but if you're a fan and you appreciate Nets basketball and what we're trying to build and you'll follow us along this journey that's about to come up. You never know what may happen. You never know what may come from this from each player and who may get better from this. But for sure it's going to make us into better people.”

Things aren't going to get easier for the Nets, though. They're scheduled for a three-game road trip next week which kicks off with a matchup against the surging Boston Celtics on Sunday. Durant and Co. then take on LaMelo Ball and the Hornets on Tuesday before heading over to Philly to battle ex-Nets star James Harden and the Sixers. If you haven't already, make sure your calendar is marked for that contest on March 10th.
