Remember that really archaic period in the NBA when the Brooklyn Nets had Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving and they were expected to win 500 championships? Yeah, that one.

Well, things didn't exactly pan out. Now, the Nets are in the midst of another new era with the addition of Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond, and Seth Curry. So far, they're off to a good start, as the Nets snapped their 11-game losing streak on Monday night after manhandling the Sacramento Kings, 109-85.

Simmons is still out, but Curry and Drummond played well in their Nets debut. Curry had a team-high 23 points on top of seven rebounds and five assists, while Drummond also had an all-around outing of 11 markers, nine boards, four dimes, two steals, and a block.

While they're still adjusting, Drummond said Nets coach Steve Nash has made the transition a little easier (via ESPN).

“His message was very simple—just play your game and the rest will take care of itself. All the little details of plays and defensive schemes, you know, we'll worry about that later when we've got time to practice, but today's agenda was just to play as hard as we can and win a game.”

That should be music to the ears of Durant, who has endured a season fraught with drama. Perhaps it's best for the Nets to get back to basics and focus on the little things, instead of being caught up in all the hoopla.

Durant has largely kept mum on his return from a knee injury, but with Nash's remarks, he could be enticed to return sooner than later and get the Nets back on track.
