The Brooklyn Nets' attempt to climb out of the play-in tournament spot begins Thursday aga8nst the Boston Celtics, one of the teams ahead of them in the Eastern Conference standings. They have added Goran Dragic to the mix but will still be without Joe Harris.

Harris has not played since November due to an ankle injury that required surgery. He experienced setbacks in his recovery process that still have him sidelined. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Nets will consider whether he needs a second surgery this week.

The other update I wanted to share regarding Brooklyn is regarding Joe Harris. I’m told by a source that they’re going to see how things go with him this week in terms of whether he needs a possible second surgery or not.

Harris got a second opinion on his ankle in January. His absence has been brutal for the Nets, as his scoring and shooting have been huge keys to their success in the past. Ever since becoming a full-time starter in the 2018-19 season, he has led the NBA in 3-point percentage in two seasons and has averaged 13.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists while connecting on 45.8 percent of his triples.

With the arrival of Seth Curry from the Philadelphia 76ers as a part of the James Harden trade, the Nets still have a reliable shooter to provide spacing for Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons. Still, having Harris would provide a very strong scoring option off the bench.

Another surgery for Harris may spell the end of his regular season. Regardless of when he returns, Harris will have to get back into playing shape.
