Despite the fact that Brooklyn Nets superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have both been the stuff of headlines of late, it is clear that there have been no substantial developments with regard to their respective trades away from their current team. At this point, it has become increasingly plausible that Durant and Irving end up staying as teammates this coming season.
According to Adam Zagoria of nj.com, both KD and Kyrie now “know” that a trade for either of them has become unlikely, and that both stars have come to accept the reality that a move is not imminent.

“That’s why there’s nobody commenting on it. [Durant and Irving] are never shy for words.”
This does not come as a surprise considering how the Nets have reportedly slapped both of their stars with substantial price tags. No team in the NBA appears to be willing to meet these demands, which could lead to the superstar duo remaining in Brooklyn together beyond this summer.
“I think initially they plotted [to leave],” the source added, “and then they realized very quickly that it wasn’t going to work.”
This supposed ploy may have backfired on Durant and Irving, but the reality is, even if they don't get what they want this offseason, the Nets are still going to be strong title contenders in 2022-23 if both of them remain in Brooklyn.
