For the first time since 1993, the Virginia Tech Hokies football program has no representative in the NFL Draft.

Virginia Tech beat writer for the Richmond Times-Dispatch Mike Barber broke the news on April 27.

The Hokies' two draft prospects were Yosuah Nijman and Ricky Walker. However, neither player got the call, per Barber.

Virginia Tech, which had at least one player drafted every year since 1993, had been hoping that offensive tackle Yosuah Nijman or defensive tackle Ricky Walker would hear their names called Saturday, but the seventh and final round came and went without either player being selected.

The Hokies hope several of their players make it to the NFL next year. Their current senior class includes quarterback Ryan Willis, defensive linemen Xavier Burke and Houshun Gaines, defensive backs Ishmiel Seisay, Reggie Floyd and Jovonn Quillen; and offensive lineman Tyrell Smith.

Eighteen current players represent Virginia Tech in the NFL. The most prominent ones include Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor, Chicago Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller, and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Among the best Hokies players in NFL history are Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall, Atlanta Falcons/Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Antonio Freeman, and Buffalo Bills defensive end Bruce Smith.
