Clemson star quarterback and presumptive No. 1 overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence officially underwent successful surgery on his non-throwing shoulder.

Lawrence acknowledged he needed a procedure after his pro day last week. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that the procedure “went great,” adding Lawrence is expected to be at full strength by the time training camp starts.

Lawrence is all but guaranteed to be the new face of the Jacksonville Jaguars come April.

The Jaguars own the No. 1 pick in the 2021 draft and have given no indication they will pivot away from selecting Lawrence. In fact, it was new Jags head coach Urban Meyer who suggested Lawrence move his pro day up to allow for a more beneficial recovery timeline.

Meyer further hinted the Jaguars would take Lawrence following his pro day, saying the Tigers star is “a guy that loves football and is confident in his ability” while also saying the NFL is a “quarterback sport.”

Lawrence could well be one of the best quarterback prospects in recent memory. He has arm talent in spades, not to mention a tall and athletic frame to see over the defense and make plays with his legs, if necessary.

The Jaguars, meanwhile, are in desperate need of a spark. Gardner Minshew has provided serviceable play in each of the last two seasons, but he probably does not move the needle like Lawrence in terms of talent and ceiling.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, Trevor Lawrence will be heading to Jacksonville this fall. He should be fully healthy when he does, following Tuesday's successful surgery.
