Dion Lewis, formerly of the New England Patriots and free-agent-to-be, is already receiving interest from many teams across the league.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, up to six or seven teams are already thinking about acquiring the services of one Mr. Lewis. The New York Jets, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders are the specific franchises Florio mentions as having interest in the shifty dual-threat option out of the backfield.

Lewis, 27, is a product of the University of Pittsburgh but was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Albany. To force those Jets connections further, he attended the famed Blair Acadamy in New Jersey during his high school days.

An original fifth-round selection of the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2011 NFL Draft, he played two seasons with his initial employer, racking up just 171 and two touchdowns to go along with little production through the air in 24 total games. Stuck behind starter LeSean McCoy, Lewis could really never establish himself in Philly.

He joined the New England Patriots in 2014 after an injured two-year stint with the Cleveland Browns and quickly established himself as a legit NFL threat.

Rotating behind Tom Brady, Lewis put forth a breakthrough campaign this past season, totaling 896 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 180 carries, good enough for a cool 5.0 yards per carry. He also tallied 214 yards and three touchdowns on 32 receptions through the air.

Lewis has always showcased incredible talent out of the backfield. The only question for the free-agent-to-be who should cash in on a nice deal is health. Remaining healthy as a back is always tough, but for Lewis, it's been the story of his career.

NFL free agency begins on March 14, 2018, at 4 p.m. ET.
