It has been a rough stretch for running back Danny Woodhead, to say the least. His stint with the Baltimore Ravens lasted just one season before he was officially back on the market.

However, he has still managed to garner some serious interest from a couple of title contenders. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, both the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons have contacted Woodhead recently:

Patriots and Falcons showed some hustle and grit in contacting RB Danny Woodhead recently, source says. We'll see if he and his lunch pail head to either place deceptively quickly to pay a visit.

The report should come as no surprise considering how well Woodhead's skill set would fit into their pass-heavy schemes. When healthy, he is the quintessential receiving back. It goes without saying that his prowess in the passing game makes him a matchup nightmare for defenses out of the backfield.
Unfortunately, Danny Woodhead has had a difficult time staying healthy. As a result, his production has declined severely over the years. He registered just 56 yards on 14 carries in eight games during the 2017 NFL season. The 10-year veteran did most of his work through the air with 33 receptions and 200 yards during that time.
However, it seems both the Patriots and the Falcons have seen enough out of Woodhead over the years to know he will be an asset. That said, it will be interesting to see these two prolific passing teams battle it out for one of the best pass-catchers on the market.
