Former NFL star Adrian Peterson made the news for the wrong reasons ahead of the Super Bowl as he was arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife. Peterson spoke out on the incident after his arrest, via NBC Sports.
“It’s blown out of proportion. Me and the wife got into an argument on the plane. That was pretty much the gist of it. I ended up grabbing her hand and taking her ring off her finger. She didn’t press any charges. The state of California pressed charges because there was a scratch on her hand. Literally that’s why I went to jail, because the ring left a scratch on her finger. We just had a disagreement. I know the headlines: Domestic violence. You’d think I beat her up or something. It was nothing like that.”
According to Adrian Peterson, he and his wife got into an argument while they were on a plane heading for a Super Bowl party. Peterson said that he grabbed her hand and took her ring off her finger, leaving a scratch on her hand.
The former NFL star said that his wife didn't press charges, though he was arrested because the state of California deemed it a domestic violence incident due to the scratch. Peterson also blamed a passenger behind he and his wife for making the incident worse.
