Adrian Peterson has made headlines of late after being arrested over a domestic violence issue against his wife Ashley Brown.

The former NFL MVP reportedly got into a heated argument while on a plane set to take off from Los Angeles International Airport. Adrian Peterson himself vehemently denied any serious wrongdoings, alleging that a simple cut on his wife's finger after he tried to grab her by the hand was constituted as domestic violence in the state of California and enough to take him in.

“I was literally mind-blown that they took me to jail,” Peterson told Mark Berman of Fox 26. “They were like, ‘I’m sorry, Mr. Peterson, but because she had a scratch on her finger, (in) the state of California, we have to take you in.’ I sit there and watch the plane pull back and take off and I’m just like, ‘Wow! I cannot believe this is happening right now. I’m going to jail, and I literally didn’t do anything.’”

Adrian Peterson's wife Ashley Brown released a statement via Instagram on Tuesday regarding their “verbal argument”. She asked for privacy and game emphasis to protecting their children.

“On Sunday, Adrian and I had a verbal argument,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, it was on an airplane. At no point did Adrian hit or strike me. This is a private matter between my husband and myself. We ask that everyone respect our privacy so we can focus on what matters most: our children.”

Adrian Peterson reportedly will not face any felony domestic violence charges as the issue moves back to being a private matter between husband and wife.
