Thursday Night Football will have to wait, at least for a little bit. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers are in a weather delay due to nearby lightning.

Every fan, player, and coach hates when this happens, but it hurts the Buccaneers more than the Panthers. Head coach Bruce Arians defense just came up with a huge fourth-down stop to give the offense great field position. Now the momentum from that stop is gone, as players will have to come out and warm up again before the action can resume.

In the very limited action that we saw before the delay, everything went about as expected. The Buccaneers received the ball, moved the chains once, and then had to punt. Carolina's first drive featured running back Christian McCaffrey heavily, as he touched the ball on five of eight plays.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton took the ball on a read-option play on fourth down around midfield, but was stopped just shy of the sticks. Coach Ron Rivera challenged the play, but lost.

Heading into this contest, the Panthers were favorites by a touchdown. After losing to the Los Angeles Rams by only three points last week, this comes as no surprise. In contrast, the Buccaneers played the ugliest game of Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston tossed a trio of terrible interceptions. Tampa Bay was also hindered by terrible offensive line play, which is likely to continue later tonight.

If the Bucs want to eat a W, Winston will need to step up and play.
