There’s a new figure to watch out for in the current head coaching carousel in the NFL. That’s former Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach and current USC Trojans offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who has reportedly secured scheduled interviews with the Arizona Cardinals and the New York Jets, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.

Team sources familiar with the head coaching searches of the Arizona Cardinals and New York Jets told Yahoo Sports both franchises are expected to conduct formal interviews with Kingsbury for their openings.

Kingsbury is considered as among the best offensive-minded personalities in the college ranks. He was at the helm of the Texas A&M Aggies’ offense as the program’s offensive coordinator during Johnny Manziel’s heydays in College Station before taking on a head-coaching job at Texas Tech. In Lubbock, he was able to utilize to the hilt the skill and talent of Patrick Mahomes, who’s now busy replicating the high-octane offense he used to lead at Texas Tech – this time for the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2015, guided by Kingsbury’s mind and spearheaded by Mahomes on the field, the Red Raiders were able to rank second in the nation in points (45.1) and in total yards (579.5) per game. Apart from Manziel and Mahomes, Kingsbury also worked with the likes of Case Keenum, Davis Webb, and Baker Mayfield.

The Cardinals and the Jets both have young and promising quarterbacks in Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold, respectively, and Kingsbury could just be the guy who has the magic touch to transform either team’s lethargic offense into a high-flying one.
