Veteran running back DeAngelo Williams didn’t play in the NFL at all in 2017. And while he hasn’t publicly announced his retirement yet, his recent social media post may be an indication that the 35-year-old won’t play in the league again.

Williams recently posted a video of his two-year-old son doing drills on a football field and added the hashtag “retired and still working” in the caption.

Williams was last seen playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Having to fill in for the injured Le’Veon Bell, Williams surprised many in his debut season with the Steeelers in 2015 as he rushed for 907 yards with 11 touchdowns in 16 games at the age of 32. He followed that up by played in nine games with four starts in 2016. He picked up 343 rushing yards and four touchdowns and also added 118 receiving yards on 18 catches.

Prior to his two-year stint with the Steelers, Williams spent the first nine years of his career with the Carolina Panthers. He hit his peak in 2008-09, when he had 1,515 rushing yards and a league-leading 18 touchdowns in 2008. He then reached his lone Pro Bowl in 2009 as he had 1,117 yards with seven touchdowns in 13 games. Williams is still second on the Panthers’ all-time rushing yards list with 6,846 yards, just behind long-time teammate Jonathan Stewart.

If it really is the end of Williams’ career, he will be missed. But even at age 35, the fact that Williams is still on the field means that you can’t rule out one last run just yet.
