NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins was struck and killed while walking on I-595 in Florida Saturday morning. The news shocked the NFL community and the world continues to mourn Haskins amid his sudden death.

While most know Haskins as a former Washington and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, he was much more than that to those close to him.

His wife, Kalabrya Haskins, wrote a statement regarding her loss. Steelers Director of Communications Burt Lauten tweeted her heartfelt message Wednesday afternoon.

She began her statement by thanking those around the NFL community that have shown support to Haskins' family.

“I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to every loving soul who has supported our family during this arduous time of loss. The overwhelming thoughts and prayers have been fuel for our emotional depletion,” Kalabrya wrote.

She emphasized his importance off of the NFL field as a son, brother, and husband, calling him a “timeless treasure imbrued in our hearts.”

“He had the smile of a rainbow that touched the diversity of so many. He will forever rest and remain in our hearts til the end of time,” she wrote.

The couple married in July of 2021, just a few months after Haskins signed with the Steelers. Kalabrya asked for continued prayers, but also “continued respectful privacy” as the Haskins family mourns the loss of their beloved family member.
