Report: Mike McCarthy may only interview with Browns and Jets

Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy may reportedly interview only for the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets jobs as he looks to get back on the sidelines.

McCarthy was fired by the Packers back in early December, and since then, it’s been clear that he would be a top candidate for several jobs around the NFL.

He is expected to interview with the Browns this week, with the Jets also figuring to be in the mix.

And while he is likely drawing attention from at least a handful of teams, it sounds like reports that he may be very selective in choosing his next team are accurate at this point, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

McCarthy’s experience in the NFL is likely going to be a huge draw for a lot of teams, but it’s clear that he’s not going to take just any job.

There aren’t many other candidates available right now that have a Super Bowl title and nine playoff appearances on their resume, so it’s smart for McCarthy to choose wisely when it comes to his next head coaching job.

Both the Browns and Jets seem to have franchise quarterbacks in place, and that’s always a good place to start when a new staff joins a franchise.

While some may wonder about McCarthy’s ability to be successful without Aaron Rodgers under center, his overall success as a coach may be getting a little undervalued.

Either way, he’ll have his chance to prove himself with his new team.
