The NFL world was shattered once more on Sunday after Cincinnati Bengals star QB Joe Burrow took a devastating hit to his lower leg against the Washington Football Team. The injury will knock Burrow out for the rest of the season.

Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson were just two of the prominent voices who offered their deepest sympathies to Burrow following the injury:

Joe Burrow finished the game completing 22-of-34 passes for 203 yards, resulting in one touchdown before he was carted off the field. The 2020 No. 1 pick was replaced by Ryan Finley, who will likely become QB1 while Burrow remains sidelined.

Burrow had begun turning in some rather astounding performances coming into Week 11. He had thrown for over 200 yards in his last four games coming into Sunday, while completing at least 60 percent of his passes in three of those games.

However, the No. 1 pick had taken a beating even before this game, getting sacked 32 times and hit 72 times coming in. The Bengals need to work on improving their offensive line to protect their star better when he gets healthy.

The Bengals dropped to 2-7-1 with their 20-9 loss on Sunday. Let's hope Joe Burrow will be back and better than ever in 2021.
