The ever-changing story of Telvin Smith's year continues. The now-retired Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker was arrested at his home on Wednesday, according to WJXT.

Per The Florida Times-Union, a heavy police presence was shown at Smith's house on Wednesday. A black Cadillac Escalade that matched Smith's was towed from the home. His house is located in the gated community of Queen's Harbor.

On Wednesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's office posted a Tweet proclaiming there to be a marijuana grow house where there 261 live plants and 50 pounds of processed marijuana were removed. There is no indication that this is directly correlated with Smith; however, speculation leads to it, as it was posted at around the same time of the arrest.

Smith, 28, a Florida State product and Pro Bowler for the Jaguars, abruptly retired over the offseason. In doing so, he forfeited $9.75 million in salary. The Jaguars, in turn, fined him for missing mandatory minicamp.

Smith did not indicate that he was retiring full-time from the NFL, instead, there was the possibility that he was taking a one-year hiatus. If he so decides to return to the league, his recent arrest, if connected to the grow house, could complicate things. The NFL could, and likely would, suspend/fine him. The law could take him out of his mansion and force him behind bars.

The Jaguars would have first dibs on Smith if he were to return. After he decided to retire, Jacksonville placed him on the reserve/retired list. He would return on the same contract.
