The NFL playoffs are fast approaching. Yet no team has clinched a playoff spot through Week 12. Three teams who rank at the top of the standings can. That is if they could win their upcoming games in Week 13 as per Josh Alper of NBCSports.

The New Orleans Saints have been the hottest team in the NFL lately. They currently possess a 10-1 record due to their offense's unstoppable attack. They haven't lost a game since Week 1 having won 10 straight in a three-month stretch. Opposing defenses have struggled to stop their passing game. Above all, their 37.2 points per game is mind-boggling.

The Sean Payton and Drew Brees duo have done a good job once again this season. In 13 seasons of being together, only the Bill-Belichick and Tom Brady duo have had more success. New Orleans could earn that playoff spot. That is if they can win Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Los Angeles Rams also possess a 10-1 record which is identical to the Saints. But rank second in the NFC due to a head-to-head loss against them. Young coach Sean McVay has done a terrific job in turning the franchise around last year. This year they've continued what they've started in their 2017 campaign.

Todd Gurley and Jared Goff join forces to lead their offense, which ranks third in points per game this season with 35.4. They've had a chance to claim their spot in Week 12, but the Seattle Seahawks won, and their wait was prolonged as a result. Coming off their bye week, they are set to face a struggling Detroit Lions team in Week 13 and can finally register their entry to the playoffs.

The best team in the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs have won nine of their 11 games this season so far. Second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes' cannon-arm is hard to contain and has thrown for 37 touchdowns in 11 games. The Chiefs' offense is hot as well as they averaged 36.7 points per game.

Their opponent next week ironically is the worst team in the league right now, the Oakland Raiders. A win for them would mean that they'll be the first AFC team to earn a spot in the next round.
